When we spoke to his wife, she mentioned something that truly resonated. It wasn’t just the photographs that reminded her of Tim; it was the everyday things around their home—his certificates of achievement, his football scarf hanging on the back of the door, his Rolling Stones CDs by the stereo. Each item told a story, each one a thread woven into the tapestry of Tim’s life. It was then that we realised these familiar objects are all significant reminders of who Tim was.
From these conversations we knew any tribute had to be more than just a slideshow of images. As photographers working with stills and moving imagery, we decided to create a motion tribute that truly captured his spirit—something that reflected not just his accomplishments, but his unique personality. The film was shown at his wake, and throughout, people gathered around the screen, reminiscing, sharing stories, and laughing, especially when his infamous Tantrum Trophy made an appearance. The tribute moved many, offering comfort in the moment and ensuring those treasured memories will endure as a lasting reminder.
Curated Tributes was inspired by a personal experience that highlighted the importance of preserving family memories and the value of recording them.
When our friend Tim passed away, we found ourselves struggling to know what to say to his family or how best to support them during such a difficult time. Tim was a big character—well-known, well-loved, and someone who had truly lived life to the fullest. His passing left a noticeable gap, and his family was understandably overwhelmed by the weight of funeral arrangements whilst also carrying their own grief.
As we reflected on Tim's life, we realised how many lives he had touched. Through his teaching career, his presence at the golf club, the local pub and his unwavering support for Portsmouth FC, Tim's impact reached far and wide. We wanted to find a way to capture that—to celebrate the person he was and the memories he created with so many of us.
